The Jesus Storybook Bible Gift Edition: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones,Jago
The Jesus Storybook Bible Gift Edition: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones,Jago is Not a review of the bible content, which is great, this is a review of the gift edition. I am really pleased with the binding and athough we have yet to use this, it looks like it will stand up to regular use, unlike the regular edition we received from friends 4 or 5 years ago. We used the original edition for several months, maybe even a year, infrequently reading it to our toddler and not letting her handle it, and the cover began getting messed up and became too fragile to keep using comfortably.I highly recommend this print edition over the original because it is designed to hold up better, which the original unfortunately did not. Great kids bible content and illustrations, well worth owning.
The Jesus Storybook Bible Gift Edition: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones,Jago is The Jesus Storybook Bible (Keepsake Gift Edition) is The Jesus Storybook Bible wrapped up in a beautiful new cover. With the new The Jesus Storybook Bible (Keepsake Gift Edition), there are just a few changes. The cover is a beautiful blue cloth-like textured hardcover with gold foil accents. The book is also bigger and offers larger page sizes (about 1 inch both in height and in width). The illustrations and text are all just scaled up (which means it offers larger illustrations and a larger font size), which is great for reading to a family and/or group. This edition remains the same thickness/page count as the previous editions. Our family started out with The Jesus Storybook Bible in the Deluxe Edition (with CDs) - and we have loved it! We keep the CDs in the car at all times and have loved reading the book together. If you have not yet experienced The Jesus Storybook Bible - it is fabulous! It is a storybook Bible, so you need to keep in mind that this is written as a "story" and the author may take some liberties in descriptions of events, etc. What I love is that every story finishes with a tie back to Jesus. Even as an adult, I have learned from The Jesus Storybook Bible, and I love that my kids have it as part of their foundation.I would love to see the larger book size of The Jesus Storybook Bible (Keepsake Gift Edition) paired with the audio CDs as a set - that would be the best combination, in my opinion.FTC Declaration: The publisher has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book or advanced reading copy. This does not change the fact that I will give my honest opinion in my reviews.
The Jesus Storybook Bible Gift Edition: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones,Jago is Ok look, it's a children's version of the Bible. It doesn't have every story, and if you are a "this must be absolutely precise in the original English from the KJV" ..then this isn't the book for you. For example, the storyteller has Laban suggest that Jacob take a bride as payment for his work, instead of the original account, which is where Jacob had that idea all along. There isn't any detail changed that you can't change back by a simple as-you-read rewording...and nothing that *really* effects the *message* of the stories. The pictures are fantastic, and this version is FAR more readable than many others I've seen over the years. I'd say it tops out at age 7 or 8, so this also isn't a beginner's study bible. But for a simple "read aloud time" or bedtime story bible, it's excellent.
The Jesus Storybook Bible Gift Edition: Every Story Whispers His Name by Sally Lloyd-Jones,Jago is I bought this because my 7-year-old grandson loved the stories I told him about Jesus, & I wanted to share them in a book with him. First, I noticed there were Old Testament stories, which was ok, I was just surprised, based on the title. I asked him which story he wanted me to read, & he selected Jesus walking on water. Imagine my surprise when that beloved story was missing from the book. Then he said he wanted to hear the story of the woman who was healed by touching Jesusâ clothes. Also not there! Ok, I know they canât put EVERY story, but, when itâs a book for kids, I canât imagine leaving out walking on the water. Weâre just getting into it, & he seemed to be interested as we started with the Creation story. Iâll have to check the childrenâs Bible I got him earlier & see if it has a better selection of stories. Good illustrations & fairly good sized font.
